L.A. Contemporary Dance Company

2018

Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company was founded as an ambitious project of two Masters students with a passion for contemporary dance performance. In just over a decade it has expanded into a full repertory comany that performs, choreographs, and educates worldwide.

To reflect their growth and reaffirm their unchanging values–diversity, connection, and commitment to choreography, performance, and company members–we embarked on a brand refresh in 2018.

Trickle-down Empowerment

2014

Trickle-down Empowerment is examination of ethical consumerism and charitable giving between the Global North and Global South. A diagrammatic poster series maps the labor and supply chain between American consumers and hardworking craftswomen in urban Kampala, Uganda, where employment options for women without education are are few.

A simple craft kit, aethetisized for western consumers, facilitates a destabilizing exchange of labor and skill, questioning the value of labor and notions of women’s empowerment.
